Harvest Day Celebration

This event is a spin off from our original Apple Harvest Day celebration—only bigger and better. This special event focuses on all the sights and smells of harvest time on the farm. The harvest events include lots of special activities with many of the items harvested in the fall: apples, pumpkins, potatoes... your day will be filled with lots of arts and crafts, food, games, fellowship and fun.

Harvest Day Events:

Stations for the following activities will be set up and participants may enjoy each activity throughout the day.

  • Apple Butter: Smell, taste, help make and take home apple butter prepared on the open fire.
  • Apple Sauce: cut and peel the apples making your own jar of applesauce.
  • Digging Potatoes: Better than hunting Easter eggs is finding fresh, raw potatoes in freshly dug soil.
  • Sewing Project: take home a scented trivet for your table.
  • Mosaics: create a pumpkin, apple or fall leaf mosaic using real cut glass and grout.
  • Leaf Printing: using leaves as printing materials, make your own wrapping paper.

The activities are designed for participants ages 5 years and older, with advanced projects for students 12 years and older. However, 3 and 4 year olds that would like to participate in most of the activities are invited to do so, provided they pay the full $30.00 participation fee. An option for younger siblings is to pay a $15.00 supply fee for partial activity. Children four years and younger are welcome at no cost with a paying adult or older sibling if they want to watch the activities or help the older sibling. The event meets from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm. In an effort to encourage parents to attend with their children, we do not charge adults for the activities. Parents wanting to participate in the arts and crafts seperately from their child(ren) may pay an optional parent participant fee of $10.00 to cover the cost of supplies. The website does not calculate family discounts during on-line registration but they are always honored upon payment.

It is recommended that all participants and family members bring their own lunch.

The most encouraging comment demonstrating the value of these events came during one of our celebrations in 2008 when an eight year old boy participant, Nathaniel Atkinson said, "Mom, this was more fun than Disney."
